Friday 8th January saw the first club night of 2016 take place at the Grange School in Shrewsbury.
We had a decent turn out for the first meeting of the year and saw some really close racing throughout qualifying with Matt Box eventually taking TQ with his HPI powered X Ray XB4.
There would be 3 rounds of qualifying with 4 heats of mixed class racing, from Micros to 2wd and 4wd 1/10 buggies. Dan Shapcott showed the 4wd boys how it was done in round 1 with a steady clean run to take top spot in round 1 with Matt Box taking rounds 2 and 3 to line up on pole in the A final. Club racing is not just about who is the quickest though, its also about having fun and bringing new talent through the door, helping others and having a giggle along the way. There were plenty of laughs throughout the evening but the stand out performance of the night had to go to young Matty Kay. Matty has just turned 5 years old and took to the track like a natural. Nice and steady and got quicker throughout the night, kept his cool and listened to advice from the more experienced members. This is what club racing is all about, Well done to young Matty!
Final Listings:
So the finals got underway and first up was the C final.

So onto the A Final and after a really close race Matt Box would take the win from Pole with Dan Shapcott 2nd and Dom Nunn 3rd. just 2 seconds separated the top 3 after 5 minutes of racing! Calum Johnson who briefly lead the final after showing some great pace came in 4th and Pete Mulcahy rounded off the top 5.
So all in all a great start to 2016, We hope to see you at the next monthly meeting (Date TBC) for some fun racing at ESBRC. A massive thank you to everyone who helped set up the track and pack away.
